When Did You First Give Your Baby A Little Bit Of Apple Juice?

Author: Admin  //  Category: Apple Juice

My mother-n-law said it would be fine to give him 2 oz of apple juice mixed with 2 oz water. I wasn’t sure if I should start him on this or not just yet. He’s 2 months old this week, & a very big boy 14 lbs.
What do you think?
Is this fine?

6 months, but juices are not necessary, they are just sugar water. I have given Cade some juice 1 part juice 5 parts water a few times, but he realy doesnt like it.

Not at 2 months. Any juice or water will fill his little tummy up, leaving less room for breast milk or formula. Water or juice provides no nutritional value, so it’s a bad thing when your baby skips a feeding because his tummy is full of nothing. He will also become gassy and irritable as his stomach is not designed for sugary juice yet.Baby’s have their hunger and thirst satisfied through breast milk or formula.

I gave my Son his first juice a 2 1/2 months and I gave him 1 ounce and a ounce of water together first then when he was 3 months I gave me 2 ounces of juice and 2 ounces of water! So I don’t see a problem with it!
I gave him white grape juice though since he was havin difficulties going to the bathroom doctor recommended it!
EDIT: Get the Gerber juice is better I know several Mother who give ther Baby Juicy Juice and it is was to sweet for them!

Absolutely not, apple juice is to be used for medicinal purposes (i.e., an ounce or two if he’s constipated) until 6 months and then only 2-4 ounces a day if at all. Juice is all sugar and not good for babies, and filling him up with 2-4 extra ounces of essentially empty calories is keeping him from getting the nutrition he needs from milk.
Things have changed a lot since your mother in law had a child, it was right of you to ask. You’re allowed to do things differently, we know a lot more about child health than we did back then. :)

I gave my little girl apple juice when she was three weeks old, but that was because she is on soy formula and makes her constipated. so the doctor said to give her 2oz water and 2oz juice twice a day. But then at her 8week appt. he said that I can give it to her anytime I want now. up to four times a day. but ussually we only do 2 juice bottles.

My son is 7 months, and has never had juice.
I personally feel it is full of sugar that isnt good for him…I rather just give him fruit :)
    He seems to enjoy it.

Apple juice, while natural, is all sugar. Your baby would be much better off with more water. He is obviously growing well and he doesn’t need the extra calories. He’s a real cutie!!

About 4 months is what I would recommend, but watered down (half apple juice half water). Make sure it only has 100% apple juice. With NO added sugar.

not reccommended until 6 months- my son was 6 months and it was very diluted even so i didn’t give him that much juice. it’s not need and it’s not good
